- Close NIS-Elements
- Transfer your data to the D: drive (Data Storage) or to your external drive and delete it from the local C: drive
| Get your samples from the microscope- Turn off the computer
- If oil objective was used, clean
| the oil objective - it with lens cleaner and lens paper
| If fluorescence was used, turn off the mercury lamp power supply unit (3A- (not Kimwipes)
- Turn off the microscope power bar (
| 2Wait until the lamps are cool and cover - Cover the microscope

| - Take back your samples including ones in the microscope
- Leave the microscope and the working area clean

Storage Management | - Files can be saved temporarily (during acquisition) on the local C: drive (desktop)
- At the end of each session, copy your data to your external drive and delete it from the local C: drive
- You can store your files on the D: drive (Data Storage). If you do, please create a folder per laboratory using the principal investigator last name. Within, create one folder per user (Firstname_Lastname).

| This happens when NIS-Elements does not find the camera. It is usually because the camera is not powered on. - Turn off NIS-Elements
- Turn on the camera (both the microscope power bar and the camera need to be ON
(the camera is usually ON, the switch on the top of the camera) - Check the camera is correctly connected to the computer via a USB cable
- Turn on NIS-Elements
